Senior Housing Strategy

Brief Description

On June 2, 2009, the City Council passed a motion directing staff to come back with a strategy for housing seniors in Davis.

Issues to be evaluated include: community needs; interest levels of seniors; senior housing share of the growth cap; and the suitability of potential infill and peripheral sites. Strategies shall address: How many units? What types? Where? When?

The target schedule is:
  • October 2009: Staff drafts a resolution of senior goals and strategies.
  • November 2009: The Senior Citizen and Social Services commissions review the draft resolution with public input and make recommendations to City Council.
  • December 15, 2009: Updated resolution and staff report to City Council (not for discussion or action).
  • January-February 2010 (date to be determined): City Council considers recommendations and adoption of a resolution.
