Bike to School Day
- Date: May 10, 2017 (all day)
Students in Davis and the across the country will celebrate National Bike to School Day on May 10, 2017.
Thousands of students will be riding or walking to school on Wednesday along with their parents, teachers and community leaders, including Mayor Robb Davis, “I always look forward to May, it’s a great celebration of Davis and our bike friendly community. Every year there are more and more kids and families that participate in the festivities, which makes it all the more fun for everyone!”
Please join us to make this a safe and fun event:
- Drive with Caution--keep everyone safe by watching out for pedestrians or students riding bikes to and from school.
- Bike Safely--Student riders can help by being predictable, aware of your surroundings and always wearing a helmet.
Bike to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for bicycling and walking and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The events build connections between families, schools and the broader community, and celebrate the unique Davis bike culture.
Look for special events at your school throughout the month. Local partners will be hosting safety assemblies, bike rodeos, kidical mass bike rides, contests, and more.
