for 

City-wide Space Use Assessment 

The City of Davis is inviting architectural and design firms to submit proposals for a City-wide Space Use Assessment, focused on City-owned buildings.  This effort is intended to build on the 2016 Building and Parks Assessment (portions of which are included with the notice), which identified building replacement and maintenance requirements. This Space Use Assessment will provide a comprehensive review of the current uses of city facilities (excluding the Wastewater Treatment Plant, pool facilities and parks storage sheds), the advantages and disadvantages of each site, and a determination of the cost of operating each building. Additionally, this Assessment will provide recommendations to determine the best use of the facilities to provide for efficient and effective staffing and operations.

The goals of this effort are to:
   • Maximize customer service (both internal and external)
   • Increase efficient delivery of city services
   • Identify work space requirements for City staff (including the potential to reduce or re-purpose the City’s inventory of buildings).

The tasks performed as part of the scope of work will form the basis of a final report outlining the information gathered on each facility and include sections on specific recommendations for space use, function, cost benefit, and customer service. This report will assist the City in realigning services to provide cost effective customer service. 

It is anticipated that this will be a 6-month process, completed before the end of the calendar year and has a projected budget of $200,000.

Questions regarding this RFP may be submitted by email to Stan Gryczko until May 23, 2017. Questions submitted after this date will not be answered. Responses to questions will be published and distributed to applicants. 

Submittal Information
Consultants interested in submitting a proposal for this project should respond to this RFP with a written proposal providing all the information requested. The proposal will be considered complete only if all of the items listed under the Submittal Requirements are included.

Proposals shall be delivered to the City Clerk’s office on or before 3:00 pm, Tuesday, June 6, 2017.
