Davis Police Cadet Program
The City of Davis Police Cadet Program is a volunteer position for both males and females in the 7th to 12th grade. The program exists to provide youths basic experience, training and insight into law enforcement.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for those who desire a career in law enforcement or who want to perform a valuable community service. Cadets will learn about the profession, make new friends, and serve the community in a worthwhile capacity. Cadets who attend Davis High School and DaVinci High School may also be eligible for school credit towards community service.
Cadets receive training in a variety of police duties including: criminal law, patrol procedures, police radio procedures, report writing, crime prevention, traffic school, traffic enforcement, public relations, basic first aid and other areas.
Duties:
Duties may consist of the following: attend regular training meetings, ride patrol with regular officers, provide traffic and crowd control, crime prevention assignments, field searches for missing persons or evidence, and other duties as assigned. Cadets are assigned to work events such as Picnic Day, Fourth of July, the Easter Parade, and various other parades and events.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be a minimum of 13 years of age and attending 7th through 12th grade. Applicants under the age of 18 must be enrolled in an accredited junior high or high school and must maintain a GPA of 2.0. Applicants must have the ability to speak and write the English language; attend regular meetings; volunteer a minimum of four hours per month; have the ability to speak and act maturely; always maintain high moral standards; obey all rules and regulations of the City of Davis Police Department and the City of Davis Police Cadet Program; have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow Cadets, Officers, and of the public and have transportation to the police department.
Entrance Procedures:
All applicants must attend three consecutive training meetings. During this time they will have the ability to interact with Cadets and learn first hand about the program. At the conclusion of the second meeting, the applicant will be interviewed by the Cadet Advisor and a senior Cadet to determine whether they meet the eligibility requirements and will be appointed as a Cadet. A brief background check will also be conducted prior to any appointment.
