Nominations Sought for Annual Historic Preservation Awards

Contact:

Nominations are being accepted through April 13, 2009 for the city of Davis' 2009 Preservation Appreciation Awards. The annual award program, which brings recognition to individuals and organizations whose contributions and commitment demonstrate outstanding excellence in local historic preservation, is sponsored by the city’s Historical Resources Management Commission. The renewed program of Historic Preservation Awards occurs in May as part of recognition of National Historic Preservation Month. Recipients will be acknowledged by City Council in May 2009, and the City of Davis Historical Resources Management Commission will present the awards to recipients during its meeting on June 15, 2009.

Examples of award-eligible nominations include restoring, sensitively adding on or re-using a historic building, constructing a new building that is sensitive to the historic context of its neighborhood, promoting historic preservation through education, performing scholarly work in the field of preservation and making meritorious contributions to the field through volunteering.

More than one nomination may be chosen for an award, and anyone may submit a nomination for consideration. To receive a copy of the guidelines and nomination form, stop by the city's Community Development Department at City Hall, 23 Russell Blvd., the Hattie Weber Museum of Davis History, 445 C Street or or clicking the link below.
