TANC Power Lines Proposal

The Transmission Agency of Northern California (TANC) is proposing a corridor of 600 miles of transmission lines from northeastern California to a proposed new substation near Tracy. The lines are intended to strengthen the existing electrical system and provide increased access to local California-based renewable energy resources. There are three identified alternative routes through central California. One study area would pass through portions of the City of Davis south of I-80 at the eastern edge of town (including El Macero). The route would also pass near or over the Howat Ranch property owned by the City of Davis. Maps of the route are on the TANC website.

City’s Response to TANC, stressing the anticipated interest of the City and the community in this proposal, and requesting the alternative be removed from consideration, or re-routed to avoid impacts on Davis.

On June 1, 2009, the City of Davis sponsored a meeting to allow members of the public to ask questions of TANC representatives, and voice their concerns.
