Redevelopment Agency
About the City of Davis Redevelopment Agency
The purpose of the City of Davis Redevelopment Agency is to eliminate blight in the downtown Core, Olive Drive and South Davis sub-areas through property acquisition, participation with property owners, construction of public improvements and providing low- and moderate-income housing as authorized by state law.
The Redevelopment Agency is responsible for: maintaining legal and financial records of the Agency organization; ensuring debts and obligations are paid; providing training to Agency staff; and providing support to the City’s Community Development Department, which includes, Planning, Economic Development and Building. In addition the agency plays a role in a number of capital improvements projects.
On February 1, 2012, the Redevelopment Agency was dissolved by the California Legislature and Supreme Court. The City has opted to serve as the successor agency for purposes of unwinding operations and disposing of all assets. The dissolution will be under the direction of the Davis Redevelopment Agency Oversight Board as established by AB1X26.
