What is the purpose of a CERT Team?
The purpose of a CERT Team is to train people in the Davis community to help themselves, family and neighbors during an emergency as well as establish a pool of volunteers that can assist with large scale emergencies.
What will I learn?
You will receive training on Disaster Preparedness, First Aid, CPR, Care Shelters, Sandbagging, Utilities, Traffic Control, Missing Person Search, Communications, and City Operations and Organization.
What is my commitment?
The initial training is April 25th, May 2nd, and May 9th. All classes will be offered from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. After completion, you will be put on a contact list that can be accessed during citywide emergencies. Additionally, we will have quarterly classes to meet and review our training and have additional training.
What is the application process for the City of Davis CERT Team
The application packet can be picked up at the Davis Fire Department business office at 530 Fifth Street or downloaded from the City of Davis website (www.cityofdavis.org/cert). It includes a city employment application, a memo and form from the City of Davis regarding Workers’ Compensation: Pre-Designation of a Physician. A memo from the Yolo County Public Agency Risk Management Insurance Authority (YCPARMIA) regarding Workers’ Compensation is also included in the packet, please review this memo and complete the second page. After completing the application packet, please return it to the Davis Fire Department at 530 Fifth Street.
You will be contacted and we will confirm your placement in the program. If there is no space in this session, we will keep your application and contact you for future sessions.
