Function

Serve as a focal point for the community and advisory board to City Council and staff on matters relating to transportation programs, capital projects, and planning efforts, including: transportation policy; transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and vehicular planning; street design; traffic operations and enforcement; traffic safety; parking; and transportation infrastructure maintenance.

Consider all transportation modes in its recommendations, with an orientation toward active transportation modes and overall traffic safety and circulation.

Monitor and facilitate implementation of the General Plan Transportation Element, Transportation Plan, Beyond Platinum - Bicycle Action Plan, and Downtown Parking Management Plan among others.

Number of Members

The BSSTC shall be comprised of nine (9) members through October 1, 2018. Effective October 1, 2018, the Bicycling, Transportation and Street Safety Commission shall be comprised of seven (7) members and one (1) alternate.

Regular Meeting Time & Place

Second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m in the Community Chambers at City Hall, located at 23 Russell Boulevard.

Additional Information

In 2014, the former Bicycle Advisory and Safety and Parking Advisory Commissions were restructured to form the Bicycling, Transportation, and Street Safety Commission. Responsibilities of the prior commissions were consolidated and expanded in the Bicycling, Transportation, and Street Safety Commission per the below resolution:
