The Parks and Community Services Department creates and enhances the quality of life for Davis residents and its visitors by providing a diverse array of programs, services, and recreational facilities. The department consists of three divisions including Aquatics, Community Services, and Parks and Open Space.
Our primary goal is to provide and maintain recreation facilities, parks, open space, and programs that help make people's lives better and the community more healthy, livable, and enjoyable.
A variety of recreational opportunities are provided for residents of all ages, including aquatics, alternative recreation for persons with disabilities, gymnastics and dance programs, outdoor education, specialty camps, special interest classes, teen ser
vices, senior services, youth and adult sports, paratransit, and the rental of community facilities, athletic fields, parks, and picnic areas.
We are also proud to be responsible for the oversight and maintenance of over 570 acres of open space lands and 485 acres of parks and greenbelts.
The City of Davis Parks & Community Services Department is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), and all the ways parks and recreation has the power to transform our daily lives. From providing us places to get fit and stay healthy to fostering new relationships and forging a connection with nature, our close-to-home community park and recreation facilities provide essential services and improve quality of life.
This month-long celebration highlights the value of local parks and recreation programs and Davis has an abundance of programming, parks and amenities and overall great access to such a wonderful resource.
