The Parks and Community Services Department creates and enhances the quality of life for Davis residents and its visitors by providing a diverse array of programs, services, and recreational facilities. The department consists of three divisions including Aquatics, Community Services, and Parks and Open Space.

Our primary goal is to provide and maintain recreation facilities, parks, open space, and programs that help make people's lives better and the community more healthy, livable, and enjoyable.

A variety of recreational opportunities are provided for residents of all ages, including aquatics, alternative recreation for persons with disabilities, gymnastics and dance programs, outdoor education, specialty camps, special interest classes, teen ser

vices, senior services, youth and adult sports, paratransit, and the rental of community facilities, athletic fields, parks, and picnic areas.

We are also proud to be responsible for the oversight and maintenance of over 570 acres of open space lands and 485 acres of parks and greenbelts.

The City of Davis Parks & Community Services Department is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), and all the ways parks and recreation has the power to transform our daily lives. From providing us places to get fit and stay healthy to fostering new relationships and forging a connection with nature, our close-to-home community park and recreation facilities provide essential services and improve quality of life.

This month-long celebration highlights the value of local parks and recreation programs and Davis has an abundance of programming, parks and amenities and overall great access to such a wonderful resource.

This year’s theme is Super Heroes: When our powers combine, we change lives! To celebrate, there are several ways to enjoy all that makes Davis super! Get your Recreation Passport at the Parks & Community Services office or at summer camp and start collecting “stamps” for your visits to summer camps, swim lessons, batting cages, swimming pools, local park celebrations, 4th of July celebration in Community Park or City Hall at the Market.  There will also be mini-park celebrations each Wednesday at a different park from 6:30-7:30pm and will include games, a craft for kids and a cool treat! The schedule is as follows:

July 6-Mace Ranch Park

July 13-Northstar Park

July 20-West Manor Park

July 27-Walnut Park

Make sure to bring your passport to these events as well as the pool, batting cages, summer camps, swim lessons, special events to get an additional stamp.
