Through our versatile programming, our goal is to offer activities that promote personal development and lifelong learning, healthy lifestyles, inclusiveness, and to promote fun and celebration of life. Our program staff is continually striving to create unique experiences that are sure to capture the heart and interests of those who visit us.

Health and Fitness
The Davis Senior Center offers a variety of health and fitness classes. to review a schedule, check out our newsletter, the Scene.
Generally held mid-April; this is a magical opportunity to celebrate a specific region or country of the world. The event features cultural food and entertainment as well as a bidding raffle that is a fundraiser for the Senior Center. Door prizes from local merchants abound! Tickets are available for purchase at the beginning of March at the Davis Senior Center office.
Annual Health & Fitness Day Walk, Talk and Breakfast
Generally held on a Wednesday morning in mid-May; Join us as we "step out" to raise the profile of older adults in our community. Active seniors and everyone interested is invited to put on their walking shoes and join us for the one-mile walk beginning at the Senior Center. After a brisk walk led by the Cal Aggie Marching Band we will return to the center for a complimentary continental breakfast. Registration for the walk will begin in April by calling the Senior Center at (530) 757-5696.
Ice Cream Social & Volunteer Party
Join us mid-August at the Senior Center for our Annual Ice Cream Social & Volunteer Party. This celebration is for all of you who help make the Senior Center run smoothly, and whose special touches make our center such a wonderful place to visit. You’ll be able to build your own sundae (sugar-free ice cream will be available) with lots of toppings, while enjoying entertainment. Although this event honors those volunteers who make our center so special, it is open to everyone. Feel free to bring your family, friends and grandchildren!
Health Fair/ Flu Shots
Generally held the latter part of October or early November, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. The annual Davis Senior Center/Sutter Health Fair provides an opportunity for interested seniors to get their flu shots. The Yolo County Health Department offers the flu shots for a minimal fee, and seniors age 60 and over, caregivers and people with chronic diseases (with proof) are eligible to receive the immunization. In addition, other health checks (body fat, blood pressure, foot screenings, hearing aid checks/cleanings, and eyeglass repair/cleaning are available, as well informational booths on a variety of topics of interest to older adults are featured.
Holiday Craft Affair
Generally held in early November, the Senior Center hosts crafters eager to sell you the perfect gift for the holidays. Ceramics, knitting, paintings, jewelry, cookbooks and more are featured. Admission is free, and everyone is encouraged to stop by and shop. Anyone interested in participating as a vendor may pick up an application at the main office of the Davis Senior Center, 646 A Street. For more information call (530) 757-5696.
Education and Technology
Free Wireless Internet
Davis Senior Center has free wireless Internet access throughout the facility. Using wireless network software on your laptop, find the "Guest" connection and connect automatically. Wireless IP and DNS addressing should be set to DHCP. Once connected you will have web and email access.
1st and 3rd Monday nights from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Drop in for free computer and smart device tutoring and assistance and to socialize with others.

One of the more popular services offered at the Davis Senior Center is our personalized computer tutorial program which is conducted by UC Davis student volunteers. Whether you wish to set up an e-mail account, learn to surf the Web, or simply perfect your ability to generate letters and documents, our computer tutors can surely help.
Mac Users Group
2nd Tuesday of month 6:30 p.m.
The Mac Users discussion group can assist you with learning about the latest technology and gaining advice from others in the community.
AARP Tax Aide Program
Trained volunteers offer free tax preparation for low- and middle-income individual taxpayers, with special attention to taxpayers are 60+. Appointments are available February through early April. Call 530-757-5696 for appointments.
Davis Genealogy Club
Presentations: 3rd Tuesday of the month, 1:00 p.m.
Library Hours: Wednesday & Friday, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
This group assists and maintains the Senior Center's extensive Genealogy Library, and in addition, hosts monthly lectures and meetings. During library hours members are available to assist you with accessing research materials. Computer access is also available in the library for research purposes.
Heath Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP)
Trained volunteers with this non-profit group provide free help with Medicare problems and questions regarding Medicare insurance, including traditional, HMOs, Medicare Advantage, supplemental and prescription drug plans. Call (916) 376-8915 for appointments.
2nd Wednesday, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
This group welcomes people who quilt, sew or knit to help create and provide blankets for children who are seriously ill, traumatized or in need of love and a feeling of security. Travel and Tours
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Davis Travelaires, a non-profit travel organization located within the Davis Senior Center, provides local, national and international travel opportunities for mature adults. Trips varying from 1-day gambling excursions to multiple day extended trips are frequently scheduled. Elderly Nutrition Program
Monday - Friday, 11:30 a.m.
The Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP), in partnership with the Davis Senior Center, provides both an on-site meal in our Friendship Café, as well as the Meals on Wheels (MOW) delivery service to home-bound adults in the community. Our shared goal is to assist in maintaining the independence of older adults through improved nutrition and social interaction by serving nutritious meals that provide 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for healthy adults over 60 years of age. Menus are available at the Davis Senior Center and the Scene newsletter.
For meal reservations, call (530) 747-5870 no later than noon prior to the day you are planning to attend. For meal cancellations, call at least 24 hours in advance. This enables the program staff to provide the meal to an alternate diner. Suggested donation is $4.00 for adults, 60 years and over, and $7.00 for guests under age 60, unless accompanied by a senior spouse. "EFAP" Government Commodities Program
Third Wednesday of each month, 11:30 a.m.
The Yolo County Food Bank offers a Federal Food Distribution program at the Davis Senior Center on the third Wednesday of each month, which provides food items such as peanut butter, meats, canned goods, seasonal items, etc. to qualified families and individuals. Food items vary and supplies are subject to change. For more information on income and other eligibility criteria, please call the Yolo County Food Bank at (530) 668-0690 or (800) 621-3086.
Yolo County Food Bank/Grocery Surplus
Drop-in basis only
Periodically, the Davis Senior Center receives food donations from the Yolo County Food Bank and local grocery stores that are provided to our participants at no charge. These items are available on a first come, first served basis, and are only available on a drop-in basis when deliveries are made.
