The mission of the Davis Police Department’s Traffic Division is to maintain and improve the safety of all pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists who utilize the roadways, sidewalks and bike paths in the City of Davis. This mission is acheived through a partnership with the community and involvement in engineering, education and enforcement of all traffic related laws.
The Davis Police Department Traffic Division is comprised of 2 Motor Officers, 1 full time Bicycle Officer and 1 Sergeant. Together this team is charged with maintaining safe roadways, sidewalks, bike paths and green belts in the city of Davis. To achieve this, the Traffic Division conducts educational programs that are presented, in collaboration with local bicycle clubs, to elementary school aged children. Additional traffic-related programs are presented to the community on a regular basis to ensure safety for everyone while using multimodal transportation corridors throughout the city.
The Traffic Division maintains high visibility throughout the city conducting traffic enforcement stops that may result in a citation or an educational opportunity.
