MIBM 2016 Logo 300x300Bike Month is the annual celebration of people who ride bikes, and the awesome bikes we ride.  Each year, the City of Davis and other partners join forces to thank people for riding their bikes and encourage newbies to try bike riding.  Join the celebration, win some prizes, and ride your bike all month long...And all year.  Every month is bike month in Davis!

Bike Fairies:  Davis Bike fairies will be spreading cheer to people who ride their bikes.  Bike fairies might leave a gift on your bike or hand you a special thank you for riding around Davis.  Get caught doing good!

Wednesday Farmers Market Rides:  Meet up at North Davis Elementary School at 4 p.m. and ride together to the Davis Farmers Market.  This event is hosted by North Davis Elementary School and Davis Bicycles!

Local Artist Designed Helmets: Love art? Want to wear art and protect your head? Local artists in Davis have joined forces with the Davis Arts Center and Hot Italian to design one-of-a-kind bike helmets.  Helmets will be displayed at Hot Italian, 500 1 Street throughout the month of May, and then auctioned off to the highest bidder.  Check out the helmets at the Bike to Work Lunch on May 10th.  You could be wearing one of these amazing helmets in June- find out how at www.davisartscenter.org.

 Bike Commuter Challenge: All month long log your bike miles at mayisbikemonth.com and win prizes.  Each Tuesday, beginning May 10th, weekly prizes will be awarded to people who logged miles the previous week. Winners' names will be announced via email and posted on mayisbikemonth.com.  At the end of May, Grand Prize winners will be selected from people who logged miles every week in May.  Good Luck Davis!

May 1  

Davis Bicycles! Loopalooza, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This family-oriented bike ride showcases the Davis Bike Loop’s proximity to schools.  Ride the loop with friends and family and discover the nine fun and educational stations along the loop.  Learn more about this event and the Davis Bike Loop at: http://www.davisbicycles.org/Loopalooza.


May 4

Bike to School Day

Ride your bike to school and celebrate biking with your friends.  Check with your school to learn more about bike safety assemblies, contests, and more. May 10

Bike to Work Lunch @ Central Park, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The City of Davis, UC Davis, Yolo Commute and partners want to thank you for riding your bike in Davis.  The first 100 people who show us that they signed up for the bike commuter challenge get a free lunch!   Stay for the prizes, photobooth, music, and bike shop tournament where local bike shops will compete for bragging rights.  Food is provided by Yolo Commute, Davis Food Coop, and Hot Italian.   

Ride Your Italian Bike to Hot Italian Pizza

 If you ride an Italian made bike to Hot Italian, 500 1st Street on May 10th and show your bike.  You will receive a free Cannavaro Pizza.  Thank you Hot Italian!  

Commuter Breakfast Energizer Station- Bike Entrance to the Causeway

Bike Davis (formerly Davis Bicycles!) wants to thank you for riding your bike from Davis to Sacramento.  Stop by the energizer station at the bike entrance to the causeway beginning around 7 a.m. to grab some snacks, coffee and a thank you for riding your bike. 




May 18

Ride of Silence meet @ Veteran's Memorial Center parking lot, 6:30 p.m.

Join the Davis Bike Club for the annual Ride of Silence where people on bikes take to the streets in a silent procession to honor those who have been killed or injured while biking. Participants proceed no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road, and remain silent during the ride.  Find out more at: http://www.davisbikeclub.org/rides-and-events/ride_descriptions/non-recurring_rides/ride-of-silence.


May 19

Celebrate Davis, Community Park 4:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

Bike Valet! Ride your bike to Celebrate Davis and let the Bicycle Hall of Fame folks watch your bike while you party.  Prizes will be raffled off to people who ride their bikes and park in the bike valet.  Stop by the photo booth next to the bike valet and have your photo taken with your bike.  Learn more about Celebrate Davis at: http://www.davischamber.com/celebrate-davis.html#sthash.mz7esXPc.dpbs.


May 20

Street Food Rodeo, Westlake Plaza (1260 Lake BLVD) 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Tour de Cluck meet @ Central Park, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 BICI&BEVI Yolo Olive Oil and Wine Ride Presented by HOT ITALIAN    olive oil ride

Join HOT ITALIAN and Bondolio on Memorial Weekend for a benefit ride to explore olive oil, wine, and pizza in Yolo County!  Registration: $150. Registration includes olive oil 101 and tasting at UC Davis RMI; tour, tasting, and lunch at Bondolio; and a bottle of premium extra virgin olive oil donated by Yolo Press.  All proceeds benefit the UC Davis Olive Center, which seeks to do for olives what UC Davis did for wine.  Find out more at: https://registration.ucdavis.edu/Item/Details/242
