SP Depot Grade Level Crossing

Grade Level Pedestrian/Bike Crossing of the Railroad Tracks at the SP Depot

For many years, people have crossed the railroad tracks in the vicinity of the historic SP Depot to travel between the Olive Drive neighborhood and the downtown area. In late 2010, the Union Pacific Railroad announced plans to construct a fence along the railroad right-of-way in this area to address safety concerns with uncontrolled crossing of the railroad tracks. While the City of Davis supports efforts to increase safety along the tracks, the City believes the most effective way to promote safety is to provide a legal crossing.
