Prospectus for the City of Davis Juried Art Exhibit - Small Works 2009

At the Pence Gallery in Downtown Davis
Exhibition dates: June 12 – August 14
Reception and Award Ceremony: Friday June 19, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Eligibility:
The Juried Art Show is open to all Yolo County artists ages 16 and older.

Submission Requirements:

• Artists may submit a maximum of two entries.
• An entry form must be attached to all entries. Extra copies of the entry form will be available during the drop-off times.

• Work must be original and must have been completed within the last two years.
• Artwork may be in any medium, but total dimensions must not exceed 12" x 12" x 12".
• 2D work must be ready to hang. If work is framed, the art and frame combined must not exceed 12" x 12".
• Framed work must be pre-wired (no saw tooth hangers).
• 3D work must be ready to display. Art and any support exclusive of pedestal must not exceed the total 12" x 12" x 12" dimensions.
• Work shown previously in the Small Works Competition is ineligible.

Entry Fees:
$10 per piece at time of submission All fees will be used for awards and expenses related to the exhibition. Checks to “City of Davis” are preferred, but cash will be accepted. Fees are non-refundable.

Merit Awards:
Cash awards will be given out at the discretion of the juror.

Juror:
Stephen Giannetti holds a BA from UC Davis, an MFA from UC Irvine, and did intensive post-graduate work at the prestigious Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. A resident of Davis, his commissions include works for the City of Davis Police Department., Dr. Elias & Dr. Newman in New York, and the Hotel Seneyan in Jakarta, Indonesia. Solo and group exhibitions have included museums and galleries in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, Houston, Davis, Sacramento, Oakland and other cities. A major collector in Singapore owns approximately ¼ of his work. His newest show opens July 11, 2009 at the Marx & Zavattero Gallery in San Francisco.

Calendar:

• Tuesday June 2, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. - Drop off entries at Pence Gallery, 212 D Street, Davis.
• Wednesday June 3, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. - Drop off entries at Pence Gallery.
• Friday June 5, by 6:00 p.m. - Notification of acceptance.
• Saturday June 6, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Pick up work not accepted.
• Friday June 12 through Friday August 14 - Exhibition.
• Friday June 19, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. - Reception and award ceremony.
• Saturday August 15, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Pick up exhibited work.

Sales:
Please indicate on the entry form whether or not the work is for sale. The Pence Gallery will retain a 50% commission on all work accepted into the exhibition that is sold. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance into the show.

Liability:
The Pence Gallery will insure all artworks while they are on the premises, through August 21, 2009.
