National Senior Health & Fitness Day

To celebrate Older Americans Month, the Senior Center is again participating in National Senior Health and Fitness Day. This year’s theme is "Get Moving...Start Improving." The day will begin with a warm up followed by our annual fitness walk (about a mile), led by the Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh!  Atria Covell Gardens will provide a healthy continental breakfast, and Heather Young, PhD, RN, FAAN, Associate Vice Chancellor for Nursing and Founding Dean, Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis will speak at 10:00 a.m.

The charge is $5 per person for the event. Advance registration by Friday May 25 is required.

Health & Fitness Day Schedule of Events

  • 8:15 - 8:45 a.m. Check in. Advance Registration Required by Friday May 25. Please call the Senior Center.
  • 8:45 - 9:00 a.m. Warm Up
  • 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. 1 mile Fitness Walk around Central Park
  • 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast
  • 10:00 - 10:45 a.m.Heather Young, PhD, RN, FAAN
    Dr. Young's presentation will focus on the importance of promoting one's own health and managing chronic conditions, the role of technology in health care, and how to actively partner with health care providers for one’s own health.
