Programs & Activities: Fee Subsidy & Scholarships
Scholarships (Fee Subsidies)
Residents of the Davis Joint Unified School District may apply for funds to subsidize city recreation program fees. Eligibility depends on income and family size. Applications are available at the Parks & Community Services Department office, located at City Hall, 23 Russell Boulevard, or on the Fee Subsidy Program Information page. Applications must be returned to the Parks and Community Services Department office by the specified deadline listed in each seasonal Recreation Schedule in order to be considered for a scholarship.
Applicants must specify the activities in which they want to enroll, and provide information requested to verify family size and income. Qualified applicants will be notified of the dollar amount they are being awarded. This dollar amount can be used to pay up to 50% of the class or program registration fees listed in the seasonal Recreation Schedule. Staff anticipate that only those individuals with the lowest incomes will be eligible. For further information, you may call 757-5626.
The Dianne Hinsz Memorial Scholarship Program
The Dianne Hinsz Memorial Scholarship, administered by the Senior Citizens of Davis, Inc., was created by Dianne's family in memory of her love for the wonderful friendships that she encountered through attending exercise classes here at the Senior Center, as well as working as a volunteer in the office. In remembering Dianne's vibrant personality and commitment to an active lifestyle, her family hopes that others may experience the same level of fulfillment and dedication to their overall health and well being as Dianne. Scholarships are limited to $150 per year per person, and are limited to the funding available each year. Applications must be received two weeks in advance of program start date. For an application form and qualifying criteria, please contact the Senior Center at 757-5696, or you may download the application form
