"An Evening at the Vets" Fall Concert Series

The City of Davis Community Services Department is hosting a five week fall concert series beginning Saturday September 11, 2010 at 6:30 p.m., at the Veterans' Memorial Theatre and Courtyard (203 East Fourteenth Street). The five-week concert series will feature a different artist each week.

Tickets: $8 in advance, $10 at the door, or $35 for the entire series.

Tickets go on sale Monday August 2 at the Community Services Office at City Hall, Armadillo Music, and Avid Reader.

The peformers will be:

• September 11 - Urban Sherpas (genre: groove-jazz)
• September 18 - Tree-O (genre: folk-pop)
• September 25 - Matt & George and their Pleasant Valley Boys (genre: bluegrass)
• October 2 - Hardwater (genre: folk-rock-blues & roots)
• October 9 - Riff Nimble & the Neighbors (genre: blues)

September 11 - Urban Sherpas

The Urban Sherpas play a mixture of original contemporary jazz and cover tunes, with an emphasis on groove and melody. The Urban Sherpas are Dave Gill, Drums; Steve Harris, Guitar & Vocals; Clyde Kelly, Keyboards; Andrew McComas, Bass; Craig Solenberger, Alto, Soprano and Tenor Saxophones.

September 18 - Tree-O

Take a musical tour through the Costa Rican rain forest, the Ohio River Valley, the canyons of Texas, '60s psychedelia, and points beyond. Your tour guides: the band Tree-O. From bluesy rockers to country ballads, surf music to old-time and bluegrass styles, contemporary pop to classic western swing, Tree-O brings a new acoustic string band sensibility to its performances.

October 2 - Hardwater

Hardwater is a band based in Davis, performing original songs and covers, bringing unique musical impulses to a diverse mix of tunes from the Beatles, Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead to Counting Crows, Barenaked Ladies and the Dave Matthews Band. The sound is a mélange of rock, blues, folk and roots, reflecting the eclectic tastes of core band members John Swann, guitar and vocals; Bob Lindley, violin, baritone violin and electric mandolin; Johnny Flores, drums and percussion; Eve West Bessier, vocals and percussion; and Rob Gonzalez, bass and vocals.

October 9 - Riff Nimble & the Neighbors

Riff Nimble & the Neighbors deliver a deep blues repertoire with a classic rock flair. Eminently entertaining frontman "Riff Nimble" is a blues guitar dynamo.
