Function/Purpose:
  • Fosters increased communication between the university students and the community.
  • Develops, reviews and updates a comprehensive listing of the various issues and concerns that arise between UC Davis students and community members.
  • Develops, reviews, updates and recommends programs for consideration that will effectively deal with mutual issues and concerns, with the emphasis on the approach being a preventative and educational one and will contain a recommended allocation of program costs, if any, between city, university and the community.

Commissioner terms are for the life of the Commission, or until replaced by the City Council. Exception: Three (3) public-at-large members appointed by City Council shall have four (4) year terms.
Meeting Time: Second Wednesday of every month, beginning at 4:30pm
Meeting Place: Community Chambers. Located behind City Hall, at 23 Russell Blvd.

Goals & Objectives
  1. Facilitate communication between the UC Davis students and the non-student citizens of Davis.
  2. All Commissioners attend and participate at meetings.
  3. Use sub-committee work groups when appropriate.
  4. Develop, periodically review and update, a comprehensive listing of the various issues and concerns that arise between UC Davis students and non-student citizens.
  5. Develop, recommend and periodically update, as appropriate, an action program for City Council consideration that will effectively deal with these mutual issues and concerns, with the emphasis on the approach being a preventative and educational one, and will contain a recommended allocation of program costs, if any, between the city, university and the community.
  6. Perform such other functions and duties as may be directed by the City Council.

  5. Economic Development/job opportunities for students and affordable shopping
  6. Cultural Diversity
  7. Improve joint use/sharing of UCD/City facilities & services
