2009 Events and Photos
- The 2009 Davis Neighbors' Night Out was a HUGE success. The total party count was 143; 15 of those parties were hosted by UC Davis students. DNNO is an event sponsored by the City of Davis, UC Davis and ASUCD.
- We had a great time, and thank you, the City and UC Davis for helping make it such a special event. We were so thrilled to have Gunrock come to our block party!
- We had a very successful and well-attended party (Ovejas & Miller Drive) that many of the 40+ established residents and newer neighbors in our neighborhood enjoyed.
- In our neighborhood, an annual block party is now a five-year-old tradition, but this is the first time that we have organized it to coincide with Davis Neighbors Night Out. Your assistance made it half as time consuming to plan, and it doubled the fun. Everyone appreciated the visits from Gunrock and the local police, and the highlight of the whole evening was a ride around the block on a double-decker bus. I'm not sure how we'll top all that next year.
- It was the first time our block participated. As the host, I was worried that no one would show up; partly because one third of the residents on our street are students. I was so pleased when all but one household participated!
- Thanks for all your hard work and for all the goodies! The visit by the Unitrans bus was such a bonus too! We have been doing an annual block party for about 11 years now, but this is the first time we’ve scheduled it in conjunction with the Neighbors Night Out program. Many discussed last night that we should plan it every year on that same NNO. I really think these events make a big difference in our neighborhood for students and permanent residents alike.
- I want to thank you and the city of Davis for helping us pull off a very successful Neighbors Night Out Party yesterday at Westwood Park. I think we had about 30 adults, many children, and lots of good food. Davis Police Officers Doroshov and Waltz stopped by, and we had a nice visit with them. They said they thought we had “the best food so far.”
- I just wanted to personally thank you and your staff for all of the support you give for DNNO. Our neighborhood has two annual block parties (Memorial and Labor Day), but after tonight, I think we’ll permanently move the Labor Day party to DNNO! The kids LOVED the glowsticks and when the fire engine came down the block everyone went crazy. I will never forget the look of complete awe on our 2-year-old son’s face!
- We had a great time at our Neighbors’ Night Out Appetizer Potluck! Over 50 of our neighbors turned out in high spirits and with great food to share. With official visitors like the effervescent Bob Bowen, a cycling Don Saylor and the UC Davis Police Chief, Annette Spicuzza, we hit the jackpot! One disappointing element, however, our much-wooed UCD student neighbors didn’t show up. We hope they will join us next year!

Comments
Someone mentioned how years ago, people used to refer to “students” and “real residents” and how that message has changed since DNNO started. Davis is now One Community.
