MEETING NOTIFICATION

Naming of North Area Drainage Pond in honor of
Julie Partansky & "Julie’s Garden" Project

Northstar Pond

At the October 15th Recreation & Park Commission meeting, the Commission unanimously voted to recommend to the City Council that the North Area Pond be named “Julie Partansky Wildlife Area” and that the “Julie’s Garden” project move forward.

The Commission’s recommendations will be presented on November 17th to the City Council. City Council has the final decision on naming North Area Pond. Although the Commission did not recommend renaming Northstar Park, City Council can consider renaming the park itself as “Julie Partansky Park”.

The “Julie’s Garden” project, funded by private donations, renovates an existing picnic area at the entrance of the large observation deck overlooking the North Area Pond with a new concrete pad with decorative mosaic tiles under the table, wooden bench seating in place of the fence and a bedding area maintained by volunteers.

The general public is invited to attend the meeting and provide feedback to the City Council. The meeting will be held:

Tuesday November 17th, 6:30 p.m.
