The city of Davis is the owner of the Davis Municipal Golf Course. Since 1978 the City has leased the course to a professional to operate on behalf of the City.
Habitat is primarily non-native intensively managed turf, ponds, and mature trees. Approximately 154 acres are planned for future golf course development and these lands are currently leased and farmed as row crops.
Special status species of concern that have been sighted on the golf course include:
- Swainson's Hawk Buteo swainsoni
- Burrowing Owl Athene cunicularia
- Southwestern Pond Turtle Clemmys marmorata pallida
More common wildlife that can be sighted include waterfowl and songbirds:
- Canada Goose Branta canadensis
- Cattle Egret Bubulcus ibis
- Gray Flycatcher Empidonax wrightii
