South Fork Preserve
The City of Davis Parks and General Services Department has restored 120 acres of riparian woodland and grassland habitat along the South Fork of Putah Creek.
The South Fork Preserve includes not only wildlife habitat, but also agricultural and managed public access areas. The South Fork Preserve is intended to demonstrate that wildlife habitat, managed public access, commercial agriculture and flood control facilities can coexist with minimal conflicts.
The City also encourages visits to other existing natural areas in and around Davis, including the Vic Fazio/Yolo Wildlife Area, the UC Davis Putah Creek Reserve, the Yolo County Grasslands Regional Park, and the City’s North Ponds, West Ponds, Putah Creek Parkway in South Davis, Wildhorse Agricultural Buffer, and the Grasslands Habitat Area at Mace Ranch Community Park.
