Davis Greenbelt Alternatives Meeting

The greenbelt planning process was kicked off in February with a community meeting. The meeting provided planners with an idea of what Davis residents want greenbelts to provide and where residents want greenbelts located. Information was gathered at the meeting, by e-mail, and through an online survey. Many comments and suggestions were received, and three alternative greenbelt plans were developed based off this feedback. Now staff and planners need your input, at the second community meeting, to prioritize the plans. Planners need feedback on which plan residents like best, which greenbelt connections are most needed, and what amenities are most desired. The meeting will allow residents to give input on the proposed greenbelt scenarios. Some questions to think about for the meeting are:
- If I had to prioritize needed greenbelt connections, which connections would be my top choices?
- If I had to prioritize greenbelt amenities, which amenities would be most needed?
- Do I want the same amount, slightly more, or significantly more greenbelts?
- Do I prefer large pieces of open space on the periphery of Davis? Smaller and well connected greenbelts throughout Davis? Or, a mixture of the two?
- What would an ideal greenbelt network look like to me?
- Is diverting motorized vehicle traffic and minimizing parking supply in specific areas acceptable to provide room for greenbelts?
At the end of this meeting, planners will have a clear idea of how residents want greenbelts to look in the future, and in what order residents want greenbelts developed. We hope to have a rough outline developed for our final Greenbelt Master Plan at the end of this meeting. We look forward to seeing you and addressing your questions, concerns and comments.
