- Leave your front porch light on at night. Have motion sensor lights installed in your back yard and near the side door of your garage.
- Consider having a home security system/alarm. If the system rings from the outside make sure a neighbors knows you have a security system and how to contact you if it goes off. They also should contact the Police Department.
- Lock your vehicles, even if our vehicle is in your garage.
- Don’t leave your valuables in your vehicles.
- Make sure your side garage doors are secure.
- Keep your garage doors closed and locked even if you will be gone only for a few minutes. That is all the time a burglar needs.
- Lock doors and windows. Lock your garage and the gate to the back yard.
- Do not sleep with your windows open at night.
- Keep landscaping well trimmed.
- Don’t leave the empty boxes of newly purchased items in view or out near the garbage. The boxes show what you have recently purchased worth taking.
- Report suspicious activity immediately: Call 911 for emergency. Call 758-3600 from your cell phone for emergency, and call the business line 747-5400 for non-emergency calls.
