Description: This project includes both asphatl overlay work and an asphalt rubber chip seal with microsurfacing. The overlay will be on various arterial streets and the chip seal and microsurfacing will be on various local streets. The PMAR chip seal/microsurfacing treatment applies an asphalt rubber to deteriorated streets, then a layer of rock, then a slurry seal of emulsified asphalt. This treatment will extend the life of badly deteriorated streets by providing a flexible membrane which will withstand crack reflection.
Additional Info: This project will utilize Proposition 1B funding.

Project Status

  • Wednesday September 30, 2009
    The paving for today has been rescheduled. The contractor will continue edge grinding today. Anderson between Covell and Alvarado will be paved tomorrow and will be closed to through traffic. An updated schedule will be posted asap. The Saturday paving on Anderson is still scheduled at this point.
  • Monday September 28, 2009
    ISS will performing the asphalt overlay work this week. See schedule under "attachements" The section of Anderson between Covell and Alvarado will be CLOSED the afternoon of Wednesday, September 30. The section of Anderson between Sunset and Villanova will be paved on Saturday, Oct. 3
  • Friday September 25, 2009
    The contractor is finished with the chip seal/microsurfacing. There are some minor repairs/patching that needs to be done to some surface irregularities. The paving portion of this project will start the week of 9-28. See schedule under "attachments"
  • Wednesday September 23, 2009
    The chip seal with microsurfacing is completed. The contractor still has to complete the asphalt overlay work on Anderson, Sycamore, and F Street. The updated schedule will be posted as soon as it is received by the contractor.
  • Wednesday July 15, 2009
    This project has been awarded to International Surface Systems. The project start date will probably be in August. The pre construction meeting with the contractor has not been set yet.
  • Tuesday June 16, 2009
    This project has been modified to add some asphalt overlay work and reduce the amount of PMAR cape seal work. The new bid opening is 6/23/09
  • Wednesday June 3, 2009
    This project is currently out to bid and the bid opening is June 18, 2009. The project will be awarded prior to June 30, 2009.
