Project was completed in early May and the Grand Opening Celebration was held on May 24, 2007. See picture section for images of the completed park and opening festivities. - Monday March 5, 2007
PLEASE NOTE: The park is not yet open to the public. Please visit this page or the city's front page for information on the Grand Opening event (anticipated in May). Hemington completed all major improvements to the park in January and a 90-day plant establishment period was started. After the establishment period ends and the city accepts the project as complete, the park will be ready for use by the public. - Tuesday October 17, 2006
Hemington has performed grading of the site, installed underground utilities, and trenched for irrigation lines. Surface improvements for the central area are taking shape. See new photos in pictures folder. - Thursday July 20, 2006
Construction start of July 19, 2006 issued to Hemington Landscape Services. The grading contractor, AJ Dirtmovers, will begin work with mowing and discing the site prior to performing rough grading. The site will be fenced for security and safety and will require closure of the onsite bikepath for the duration of the project. Appropriate construction and detour signs will be posted. The bikepath is anticipated to be closed starting the week of July 24. - Tuesday June 6, 2006
The bid opening on 5/25 resulted in five bids. A contract award to Hemington Landscape Services from Cameron Park will be presented to Council for approval on 6/13. Construction is anticipated to occur from July to December. - Monday March 20, 2006
RHAA has delivered the 100% submittal on the plans and specs. After review by staff, the plans will be finalized and presented to the City Council for approval and authorization to bid the project in April/May. - Wednesday February 8, 2006
In December, the Neighborhood Park Planning Committee selected play equipment from LSI and Kompan for the tot-lot and school-age play areas. Please see the attachments tab to view exhibits of the play equipment. RHAA has also recently submitted 90% plans for review by city staff. - Friday December 9, 2005
On 9/13, the Council approved the Mace Ranch Park Master Plan as recommended by the Recreation and Parks Commission. The Council also approved on 10/4 an amendment to RHAA's consultant agreement to prepare design and construction documents. RHAA has submitted 60% design documents for review. The next community workshop will focus on Play Equipment Designs for the Mace Ranch Neighborhood Park. Play equipment representatives will present a variety of play structure designs for review and selection. This Public Park Committee Meeting will be held on Friday, December 16, from 6-9 p.m. at the Davis Police Department Conference Room, 2600 Fifth Street. Participants in the first community workshop, held on April 5, helped develop three different design scenarios for the park. The next Public Park Design Workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 7-9 p.m., in the VMC Center Club Room. The city has selected Royston Hanamoto Alley and Abey (RHAA) as the landscape architect for the park. The first Public Park Design Workshop will be held on April 5. RHAA will provide site plans and design tools to solicit neighborhood input on the project. - Tuesday December 7, 2004

- Tot-lot
The tot-age play area includes a main play structure, activity wall, and two tot swings. A sand play area and spring-bouncing structure are also included in the tot-lot but are not shown.
- School age
The school-age play area features a large play-activity structure with numerous features including a rock boulder, rock climbing wall, slide and more. Not shown is a balance-spinning structure.

Here is the final design layout of the Mace Ranch Neighborhood Park. Please note the picnic area (7) will be shaded with a kite structure and not trees as shown.
