Draft Public Health Goal for Hexavalent Chromium

The State Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment OEHHA) released a draft Public Health Goal (PHG) today for Hexavalent Chromium, also known as Chromium 6. The draft PHG is set at 0.06 parts per billion. There will be a public review and comment period before the PHG becomes final. A public workshop has been set by the OEHHA in Oakland for 10:00 am on October 19th at 1515 Clay Street in Oakland.

The City first tested for Hexavalent Chromium in 2001 and most recently again in 2006. For the 2006 sampling event, the weighted average for our water system is 12.6 ppb.
