Weeds can show up in any lawn or garden. Providing plants as competition,
or mulches as barriers slows their growth.
Prevention/Management:
- Keep lawns healthy, reseed bare areas.
- Whenever possible cultivate and remove weeds from ground.
- Use mulch layers and/or geotextile fabric.
- Use corn-gluten meal as a less-toxic pre-emergent.
- Try soil solarization (black plastic over soil heats
and kills weeds).
