Compact flourescent lightbulbs (CFLs) - Recycling & Reuse Options
THESE ARE ILLEGAL TO THROW AWAY IN THE TRASH.
The Yolo County Central Landfill will accept fluorescent bulbs and tubes for recycling every day during normal operating hours. Bring the fluorescent bulbs and tubes to the scale house. There is a $2.00 convenience charge regardless of the number of bulbs/tubes you bring in.
Fluorescent bulbs and tubes can also be taken to a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Event.

Accepts for FREE recycling: electronics, TV and computer monitors, microwaves, PVC pipe, cardboard, paper, glass, metal cans, aluminum cans, scrap metal, tin foil, agricultural plastics, recyclable plastic bottles, used motor oil, used oil filters, car batteries, alkaline batteries and rechargeable batteries. A fee may apply for all other materials. These items are also accepted at the landfill for recycling--fees do apply: toilets, stoves, ovens, freezers, refrigerators, wood, yard waste, dirt, concrete, gravel, sand, asphalt, tires, washing machines and dryers.
