Davis draws water from 22 wells located throughout the city. The wells tap into groundwater aquifers below the city at depths from 300 feet to 1700 feet below the ground surface. The water in the distribution system does not go through a central treatment or distribution facility. The only treatment administered is disinfection with chlorine (sodium hypochlorite).
