Hundreds of volunteers work daily in our community giving their time and talent to make a real difference in the lives of children, adults and the elderly. Each week, throughout the City of Davis, meaningful service projects are performed by groups and individuals.
Volunteers assist the Community Development Department as docents, staffing city facilities, developing exhibits, sponsoring special events and researching Davis history.
The Police Department enjoys the support of Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS), Cadets and Reserve Officers who give their time and dedication to the Davis community.
Parks & Community Services Department volunteers show their caring and generosity by supporting programs such as Community Mediation, Adopt-A-Park, GraffitiBusters, Swim Lessons, Day Camps, Special Events and Older Adult programs.
Volunteers increase public awareness of wastewater and wildlife habitat relationships as Davis Wetlands Docents, while Stormwater Protection volunteers keep the City’s ponds and watershed clean and beautiful to assist the Public Works Department.
The Fire Department is supported by the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members and the Fire Corps.
Many citizens serve on City Commissions giving many hours of their time planning and making recommendations that affect life in Davis. Their contributions make our City a more desirable place to live and work. City Commissions include:
