At their meeting on September 3, 2019, the City Council took the following actions: 

  • Received presentation on Davis demographics and creating districts by Paul Mitchell of Redistricting Partners
  • Council expressed consensus in the following:
    • Not interested in at-large mayor position
    • Demographer to draw map options for both 5 and 7 member districts
  • Introduced Ordinance Changing the Date of the City’s Elections
  • Directed staff to submit the Ordinance to Yolo County Board of Supervisors

City Council meeting of August 13, 2019

At their meeting on August 13, 2019, the City Council took the following actions:  

  • Declared intention to transition from at-large to district-based elections, outlined specific steps to be undertaken to facilitate the transition, and estimated a timeframe for action
  • Authorized City Manager to contract with a demographer to assist with legal requirements to develop proposed boundaries for district elections
  • Declared intention to move the date of municipal elections to November, to be held on the day of the statewide general election
