Screen Free Week Programming

The City of Davis Parks and Community Services Department is planning several free activities for families and individuals to enjoy during Screen Free Week.

All activities listed below are FREE and require no RSVP.
Join us for fun beyond the screen!

Monday April 29

3:00 – 9:30 p.m.
BATTING CAGES

All ages, Playfields Park, 2500 Research Park Drive
Slow pitch and fast pitch available. Bats, helmets, balls provided. Cages located behind Field 2. Enjoy the old-fashioned joy of hitting a ball with a bat!

5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
KNIT NIGHT OPEN HOUSE

All ages, Senior Center, 646 A Street
Learn the fun craft of knitting! Local knitters will be on hand to show you the ropes to get started. Needles and yarn provided for use during program.

Tuesday April 30

3:00 – 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday May 1

4:20 – 5:45 pm
SING-ALONG

All ages, Senior Center, 646 A Street
Lyrics are shown on a large screen, while participants “sing along” with live piano accompaniment led by local pianist, Nadja Garrod. Familiar songs will be featured including Disney hits, classic movie tunes such as the Wizard of Oz, and memorable folk songs we all grew up with. No singing experience needed!

4:30 p.m. to sunset
PICNIC IN THE PARK – DAVIS FARMERS MARKET

Central Park -5th and B Streets
Walk rows of stalls lined with fruits and vegetables, including certified choice meats, poultry, seafood, wine, local eggs and honey. Choose from a variety of fresh-baked goods, plants, flowers and gifts. In the evenings, enjoy live local music, beer and wine, or a meal from the many food stands, made from market ingredients.

10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
LOOPALOOZA

All ages, Start at any of the 10 stations positioned around the Davis Bike Loop
(see cityofdavis.org/saferoutes for station locations)
A family-friendly bike ride that navigates around the entire 12-mile Davis Bike Loop. Ride the entire Davis Bike Loop or part of it anytime between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Enjoy fun and informative activities at the stations set up along the way.

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. and 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
DAVIS CHORALE COMMUNITY SING

Appropriate for all ages. Most suitable for those 6 and older
Veterans Memorial Theatre, 203 E. 14th Street
Learn to sing easy and fun songs with leadership from Alison Skinner, Davis Chorale Artistic Director. Music played by a professional piano accompanist will include songs from Disney musicals, “round-songs” and more. No singing experience necessary. Come for fun.
