Bike Month is the annual celebration of people who ride bikes, and the awesome bikes we ride. Each year, the City of Davis and other partners join forces to thank people for riding their bikes and encourage newbies to try bike riding. Join the celebration, win some prizes, and ride your bike all month long...And all year. Every month is bike month in Davis!
All month long
Davis Bike fairies will be spreading cheer to people who ride their bikes. Bike fairies might leave a gift on your bike or hand you a special thank you for riding around Davis. Get caught doing good!
Bike Commuter Challenge
All month long log your bike miles at mayisbikemonth.com and win prizes. Each Tuesday, beginning May 10th, weekly prizes will be awarded to people who logged miles the previous week. Winners' names will be announced via email and posted on mayisbikemonth.com. At the end of May, Grand Prize winners will be selected from people who logged miles every week in May. Good Luck Davis!
Biking with Confidence: Rules of the Road
April 10- Tuesday
The first class in a series of of four classes for UC Davis employees, taught by City of Davis bicycle instructors. This class focuses on the rules of the road such as navigating roundabouts and riding with traffic.
Biking with Confidence: Bike Maintenance
April 17- Tuesday
Second class in a series of four classes for UC Davis employees, taught by City of Davis bicycle instructors. This class focuses on basic bicycle maintenance including keeping brakes and chain healthy and making adjustments to improve comfort.
Biking with Confidence: Get Your Hands Dirty- Learn to Fix a Flat Tire
April 24- Tuesday
The third class in a series of four classes for UC Davis employees, taught by City of Davis bicycle instructors. Get ready to get your hands dirty to fix a flat bike tire. Learn how to remove the tire from the wheel, find the hole, and patch the tube.
Travel Training Workshop
April 28- Saturday
Want to learn about your travel options in Davis? Practice getting on a bus, find out how to use Lyft, learn the rules of the road and test ride the electric-assist JUMP bike share bicycle.
Biking with Confidence: Hit the Road!
May 1- Tuesday
The final class in the Biking with Confidence series. A fun bike ride will be led by City of Davis bicycle instructors showcasing some bicycle infrastructure on and around campus.
Biking with Confidence
May 5- Saturday
Pump up your bike skills and confidence: Whether your riding is rusty or you are proficient on your pedals, this class will teach you how to ride your bike in traffic, the rules of the road, and tips to become a more predictable rider. This course is a combination of classroom and on-street instruction. Participants age 12 and older must bring a bike in good working condition, a helmet and water. Sign up at through City of Davis Recreation. The cost is $19. Class is at the Senior Center in the Activity Room from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
UC Davis Bike Auction
May 5- Saturday
The public is invited to attend the biannual University of California, Davis Bicycle Auction. Over 400 bikes will be available for sale to the highest bidder. The bicycles may be viewed from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. with bidding getting underway at 9:00 a.m. and lasting until all items are sold. Loopalooza is a family-oriented bike ride showcasing the Davis Bike Loop's proximity to schools. Ride the loop with friends and families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and discover fun and educational stations along the loop.
Bike to School Day
Ride your bike to school and celebrate biking with your friends. Check with your school to learn more about bike safety assemblies, contests, and more. Pathway Clean-up and Bike Davis Fundraiser
Everyone is invited to meet at Sudwerk Brewing at 2001 2nd Street at 11 a.m. for a pathway clean-up. We will clean-up a section of shared-use pathway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All pathway clean-up volunteers will receive pizza donated by Woodstock's Pizza. Hang around after the clean-up and enjoy tunes from the band Hardwater from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sudwerk Brewing will be donating a portion of sales to Bike Davis, a bicycle advocacy group.
Ride of Silence
Join the Davis Bike Club at Ken’s-Bike-Ski-Board, 650 G St., for the annual Ride of Silence, where people on bikes take to the streets in a silent procession to honor those who have been killed or injured while biking. Arrive after 6:30 p.m. and be ready to leave at 7 p.m. Participants proceed no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road, and remain silent during the ride.
Bike to Work Commuter Station
On your way to work stop by the Davis Train Station between 6:40 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. for a thank you for riding coffee and muffins.
Bike Valet! Ride your bike to Celebrate Davis at Community Park 4:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. and let the City of Davis, UC Davis, and the Bicycle Hall of Fame folks watch your bike while you party.
Bike Davis- Bike Breakfast
Bike Davis, will be serving breakfast to bike riders on the Levee traveling between Sacramento and Davis from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Bike Party Davis

Let’s bike party! This is a fun-for-all-ages bike ride around Davis. Decorate your bike with lights and meet at Ken’s Bike-Ski-Board, 650 G St. The ride leaves at 8 p.m. Find out more on the Bike Party Davis Facebook page.
