Getting Around Davis - Rules of the Road

Getting Around Town - June 12

“GETTING AROUND DAVIS” ROAD RULES ON JUNE 12

The City of Davis invites all residents to attend two “Getting Around Davis” transportation events to learn about travel options and the rules of the road.

This “Getting Around Davis” event is on Wednesday, June 12, from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Davis Senior Center, located at 646 A Street. This hour-long event will include a presentation by Sergeant John Renger of the Davis Police Department about the rules of the road for people driving, walking and biking. This event is free and open to anyone wanting to learn about bike laws, where to ride on the street, rules for driving, rules for crossing the street and more.

Established in 2013 and formerly called “Travel Training,” the primary goals of these workshops are to increase awareness and understanding and encourage usage of local travel options. The City hopes to increase confidence in using the bus, paratransit, bicycling, car share and more in the community. Through this program, residents can learn to travel to destinations like the movie theater, restaurants or more by biking or taking public transportation.

These workshops aim to improve usage and confidence in using local public transportation, including bicycling, and help residents forge new social connections and increase independence. The workshops are held annually each spring.
