Healthy Davis/Yolo Together Releases Spring COVID-19 Community Testing Schedule

Post Date:March 31, 2022 3:54 pm

Beginning April 1, Healthy Davis Together (HDT) will implement a new spring COVID-19 testing schedule. Free COVID-19 testing at Norton Hall in Woodland and at Empower Yolo in Knights Landing will see updates to testing operations. Days and hours of operation for testing at HDT Research Park, Veterans Memorial Center, the ARC at UC Davis and at City Hall in West Sacramento will remain unchanged. ÓRALE and Move It Up, two HDT partners, will also offer free COVID-19 testing at several locations in Yolo County including Esparto, Winters and Woodland. These changes reflect the continued commitment of Healthy Davis Together, its city partners and Yolo County Public Health to use the most current data available, including clinical and wastewater virus trends, to inform decision making about testing plans and resource allocation through the end of the project on June 30, 2022.

While overall COVID-19 cases and hospitalization rates remain low compared to the infection level experienced in January during the Omicron surge, there has been a recent uptick in case and positivity rates in Yolo County due to the Omicron subvariant, BA.2.

“We monitor available data daily and are in regular communication with the state health department about local and statewide trends,” said Dr. Aimee Sisson, Yolo County Public Health Officer. “While the current situation is much improved compared to the height of the Omicron wave, it remains important to get vaccinated and boosted and to get tested when you have symptoms or after close contact with someone who has tested positive. Masks are also strongly recommended in most indoor public settings.”

With greater availability of at-home rapid antigen test kits, it is encouraging to see Yolo residents making use of all available testing options. If you test positive for COVID-19, whether the results are from an administered saliva or nasal PCR test or an at-home antigen test, it is important to stay home and away from others. You can end your isolation period once you feel better and you test negative using an antigen test on day 5 or later after your initial positive test result. You should not take another saliva or nasal PCR COVID-19 test for up to 90 days after testing positive for COVID-19, as the highly sensitive PCR test can detect trace amounts of inactive virus long after the initial infection period.
