The City Manager's Office coordinates a number of community events held throughout the year.

Fourth of July

The annual City of Davis Fourth of July celebration is held in Community Park.  This celebration includes entertainment, food, a softball tournament, and, of course, fireworks!

Davis Neighbors’ Night Out

Davis Neighbors’ Night Out is a celebration of our community. The event is an informal opportunity for neighborhoods to increase familiarity and communication among neighbors by way of a block party. The event was initiated to encourage neighbors to get to know one another. The event is scheduled in October to include new or returning UC Davis students in their neighborhood festivities. We believe that starting the academic year on a positive note will reduce the potential for misunderstandings or conflicts by opening lines of communication among all residents.

Downtown Holiday Candlelight Parade and Tree Lighting

The Annual Downtown Davis Holiday Candlelight Parade and Tree Lighting is held on the Thursday following Thanksgiving.  The event begins with a parade community members are invited to join, then features performances by various community groups, activities for children, and other fun events.

Picnic Day

Picnic Day is an annual family friendly event held by the University of California, Davis.  Picnic Day is free for all to come and experience the richness of diversity and achievement at UC Davis and the surrounding community in the areas of research, teaching, service, and campus life.
