On May 21, 2024, City Council consolidated the Natural Resources Commission and the Tree Commission into a new Climate and Environmental Justice Commission. The purpose of the Climate and Environmental Justice Commission is to advise City Council on climate matters through the lens of environmental justice.

Function

Reviews and approves or denies tree removal requests. Hears appeals from decisions of the Parks and Grounds Superintendent regarding public nuisances. Hears appeals regarding denials of tree modification permit applications. Reviews and makes recommendations to City Council regarding designations of Landmark Trees.
