El Macero Ag Buffer.1

Overview

The El Macero Agricultural Buffer was created as a required buffer between the El Macero Estates subdivision and adjacent farmland, pursuant to Municipal Code Article 40A.01.050.  The three-acre buffer provides critical wildlife habitat.  It also offer recreational opportunities (hiking, wildlife viewing).  It includes two types of habitat (i.e., grassland and oak savannah habitat).  There is a gravel/dirt bike/pedestrian trail that meanders through the entire length of the buffer.  The agricultural buffer is #2 on the map below.

 

The agricultural buffer is open seven days a week, from dawn to dusk. 

Things you can do at the El Macero Agricultural Buffer

  • Take a walk/hike/run
  • Take a bike ride
  • View birds and wildlife
  • Walk your dog on leash on gravel/dirt trail

Rules and Regulations

  • Bikes allowed on gravel/dirt trail
  • Dogs allowed, but they must be leashed and stay on gravel/dirt trail
  • No hunting
  • No camping
  • No fires
  • No smoking
  • No drones
  • No horses

Directions

The agricultural buffer can be accessed at several different locations.  You can enter the El Macero Estates residential neighborhood via Cowell Boulevard and access the agricultural buffer from Tufts Street, Guthrie Place, Cowell Boulevard, or Hoag Place.
