The Yolo County Bomb Squad is an inter-agency squad and is currently comprised of one officer from Davis PD and two officers from West Sacramento PD.  These officers receive specialized training in IED recognition and mitigation, working with explosives and hazardous materials, and robot operations during a six week long school run by the FBI in Huntsville, Alabama.  Each member of the squad has also received advanced training in explosive breaching operations, suicide bombers, homemade explosives recognition and mitigation, radiological dispersal devices (dirty bombs), disarming booby traps, large vehicle bomb countermeasures, explosive disposal techniques, and post-blast investigations.  Each certified Bomb Technician is required to train 16 hours every month and attend at least 40 hours of advanced training each year.
