Outreach Campaigns
Street Smarts uses public education to build awareness, provide safety tips, and remind us all to take responsibility for our actions on the road so our streets, bike ways, and highways are safer and friendlier for everyone who uses them. Street Smarts is always working on new and innovative ways to increase active transportation! Below are some of our ongoing campaigns and events, stay tuned for updates and check out our main-page for more information!
The City of Davis promotes safe and active transportation in a variety of formats, including education campaigns, public media, and special programs and publicity opportunities. Here are some examples:

Bus Stop Shelter Program
In 2013 Street Smarts replaced all of our old bus shelter posters with a brand new set of graphics and messages. These were created with winning artwork from our elementary school traffic safety poster contest, in partnership with students in the UC Davis Department of Design. We are pleased to have the support of both Unitrans and Davis Downtown in making this new educational safety messaging available in bus stops and downtown business locations throughout Davis.
School Zone Banners
Slow down and keep an eye out for students near school zones. Street Smarts banners remind parents and other drivers to proceed with caution when they are driving or riding near schools. Whimsical artwork by student artists Esther Sun and Ella Obegi is featured on the banners, designed by 2407graphics.
Bookmarks
StreetSmarts has bookmarks! 8 new bookmarks were designed by local graphic design firm 2407graphics using winning artwork from our elementary school traffic safety poster contest. The fun new designs promote some our most important safety messages like wearing a helmet, paying attention, and never using your phone on the road. Student artists whose great artwork is featured include: Zachary Hoblit, Nu Ri Lee, Ella Obegi, Arianna Rosenberg , Arami Colman , Rachel Fort , Liam O’Neill, and Margo Fenton. Bookmarks are available for your school or event. Please contact us at 530-757-5602 x7021 if you are interested in distributing them.
