Safe Routes to School
The next school year is rolling around and we want to make sure you and your friends and family know the safest routes to bike and/or walk to school! Check out our pre-mapped routes here. If you have any questions, call us! We are ready to help.
Sign up for Active4me
Active4.Me is an innovative program that schools can use to increase the number of students biking and walking to and from school. The program uses barcode technology to capture trips to school and computes the impact each trip has on CO2, gas, dollars, and calories. Each student is given a barcode tag and it is entered into the Active4.Me database. Every school day a volunteer scans in each student as they arrive, capturing that trip. Parents are immediately notified by text (SMS), phone, or e-mail that their student has arrived at school. Sign up here!
Bike Rodeos
Call and ask your school office when a bike rodeo will be hosted this upcoming Fall. Be sure to fill out a waiver and turn it in before the scheduled date. If your school isn't offering a bike rodeo, email the City of Davis Safe Routes to School Program Coordinator, saferoutes@cityofdavis.org to arrange one!
Walk & Bike to School Day
Mark your calendars for the Walk & Bike to School Day coming October 6, 2021! Children across the district will be riding, scooting, or walking to school in the annual national celebration. Drive carefully and mindfully of these students doing their part for the environment and their health! Children will be rewarded at their respective campuses for participating. There will be fun prizes to welcome riders onto campus!
Loopalooza
Loopalooza 2020 is CANCELLED due to Covid-19 physical distancing measures. The Davis tradition will return in the future - date is still to be determined.
Loopalooza has 11 activity stations along the famous Davis Bike Loop. Take your friends, family, and/or neighbors with you on this fun and friendly route Sunday afternoon. Those who complete the entire 12-mile loop receive a special certificate at the end, but most of the stations distribute prizes to all of the riders who pass by. Hope to see you there.
