What is a permit parking district?

A permit parking district is an area established by resolution of the City Council pursuant to Chapter 22.12 of the City Municipal Code. Such a resolution designates the boundaries of the permit parking limitations and specifies the parking limitations that apply within the district.

Purpose

The purpose of residential permit parking is to limit intrusion of non-residential and commuter parking into residential neighborhoods, where such intrusions have negatively impacted the residential area. The result should be an enhanced quality of life in the neighborhoods by reducing noise, traffic hazards and illegal activities.
