Davis Children's Nutcracker
A community tradition since 1977, the Davis Children's Nutcracker is a theatre production involving 250 Davis children and is produced by the City of Davis Parks and Community Services Department.
Based on the story "The Nutcracker and the King of Mice" written by E.T.A. Hoffman. The ballet's first production was on December 17, 1892, at the Maryinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Online Ticket Sales for the Davis Children's Nutcracker
New this year The Davis Children’s Nutcracker will only offer public ticket sales online! Tickets will go on sale to the public on Wednesday, December 5 at 8:00 am. Click HERE to purchase tickets online. As in the past, sales are limited to 6 tickets per transaction. Tickets purchased online will need to be printed out, and presented at the door for verification. Tickets will only be available for purchase online.

2018 Davis Children's Nutcracker Application
All children ages six through twelve are invited to apply to participate in the Davis Children's Nutcracker. Parents must submit the application to Parks and Community Services at 23 Russell Boulevard by Friday, September 28, 2018 at 5:00 pm. Applications may be scanned and emailed to email@example.com, or dropped off in the City of Davis drop box in the City Hall parking lot.
Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. The cast is limited to 250 children, with a specific number of parts allocated to each age group. Names are drawn by lottery, preference will be given to children who applied for last year's show and did not get in. Parents of children admitted to the cast will be notified via email and have until Monday, October 22, 2018 at 5:00 pm to complete program registration. The registration fee is $120. After initial registration is complete, a second lottery will be held to fill any remaining openings. Roles are assigned after registration is complete. All cast members must be available for rehearsals and performances Monday through Friday, November 26 - December 16.
Applicants must be at least 6 years old by November 26, 2018.
Nutcracker Volunteers Needed
It would be impossible to produce The Davis Children's Nutcracker without help from many volunteers. Call, go online or stop by Parks and Community Services to learn more about volunteer possibilities or to fill out an application. Volunteer applications must be submitted by Friday, October 12 at 5 pm.
Nutcracker Ticket Policy
Information about ticket sales for cast members will be emailed with confirmation packets. Beginning December 5, 2018 at 8:00 am, tickets will be available to the general public, maximum six tickets per sale. Tickets cost $17.00 for each performance, plus online ticket processing fees. Tickets may only be purchased online. If you have any questions about this please contact Parks and Community Services.
