There are many ways that you can get involved in Parks and show your support for the exceptional quality of life that we have all grown to love here in Davis.  Without the support of community members like yourself, who are willing to lend a hand, donate time and money toward these public spaces, City staff would not be able to keep Davis safe, clean and green for all to enjoy.

ADOPT A PARK

The Adopt A Park program is a community volunteer based program, consisting of both organizations and individuals, who assist in the general care and maintenance of City parks and greenbelts.  Common tasks include graffiti removal, litter pick up, mulching, raking, sweeping, and weeding. Adopt A Park volunteers typically donate 1-2 hours per week minimum, with a one (1) year commitment to the assigned area.

PARK VOLUNTEER – General

Whether you’re an avid gardener, a scout looking for a community service project, or a community organization looking for ways to improve the community, we have a volunteer opportunity that is sure to fit what you are looking for.  Short or long term projects are available.

CHIP-IN Community Service Clean-Up Days

Through CHIP-In! members of the community can volunteer their time to maintain, restore, and enhance their neighborhood parks and natural areas on designated dates throughout the year.  Parks & Open Space staff pre-select locations needing extra help and solicit volunteers for a variety of tasks.  CHIP-In! service days are typically from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, on the 4th Saturday of the month during the months of February, April, June, August and October.

INTERNSHIPS

Davis Parks & Open Space offers internships designed to give you meaningful, supportive, rewarding and fun work as you gain experience in the real world.

MEETINGS & WORKSHOPS

Parks & Open Space staff often conducts community workshops and meetings to solicit feedback from residents on potential design options of playground equipment, new park amenities, community issues, etc. Please contact us to find out how you can participate in upcoming discussions about potential projects in City parks and recreational facilities.
