Carboard boxes must be completely emptied of all packing material and be flattened before recycling. No waxed cardboard or greasy pizza boxes (those can go in the organics cart). Cardboard 2 cubic feet and smaller when flatten can be placed in the recycling cart with paper. See below for how to manage cardboard larger than 2 cubic feet in size.

Single-Family Residential CustomersFlattened cardboard should be stacked on the ground next to the carts for pick up on collection day. Please don’t wedge the cardboard between carts it makes it harder for Recology drivers to service your carts.

Businesses and Multi-Family CustomersSome businesses and multi-family properties have a cardboard recycling bin for flattened cardboard. For those that do not, place flattened cardboard on the ground next to the recycling carts (there should be a space designated for cardboard recycling).
